Sunday Night Bible Study
Probably the first small group formed at Macland, the Sunday Night Bible Study(SNBS) started before the church was chartered, when we were meeting at Tapp Middle School. A group of about 8 people met in the school cafeteria on Sunday nights and studied Philippians. Continuing from there, the group has studied 1 Peter, James, Romans, I Corinthians, Parables, Ephesians, Ministry of Jesus Christ, Isaiah, Genesis, Exodus, Joshua, I Samuel, Proverbs, Ruth & Esther, Matthew, Acts(twice), Colossians & Philemon, Hebrews, Revelation(twice), The Trinity, Joseph, Job, Luke, The Apocrypha and many more books of the Bible. During that period, the group has grown in size to as many as 34, with the present size being about 30. In addition to Bible studies, the group has a lot of fun and fellowship with outings to Braves games (at Rome and Gwinnett), Stone Mountain, picnics, Christmas parties, Super Bowl parties, movies, etc. The group meets on Sunday nights at 6:00 pm in the FLC Room B. New members are welcome; contact Bill Thompson, the group leader (email).
Tuesday Morning Bible Study
10:00- Time with the Pastor.
Spirit Born Bible Study
This Bible study meets for fellowship with each other and to study books of the Bible on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am in the church parlor. We are currently studying Matthew. The class usually lasts until noon. It is led by Rebecca Mitchell (email). We follow a book loosely, but often the discussion is based on research and notes compiled by Rebecca, which she tries to distribute by the day before. We are a diverse group with often disparate points of view. When we are born of the Spirit and accept the love of God, we can set aside ourselves, stop judging ourselves and others, love ourselves and others, look for God’s movement in our lives, and align our will with His. Feel free to join us anytime. You are always welcome.
Grief Recovery Support Group
It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lose a spouse, child, family member or friend, you’ve probably found that there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. That’s the reason for GriefShare, a special seminar and support group for people grieving the loss of someone close. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. Each GriefShare session includes a video seminar and group discussion. A GriefShare workbook assists you with note-taking, journaling and grief study. The videos feature top experts on grief recovery, dramatic reenactments about living with grief and real-life stories of people who have experienced losses like yours. During the small group discussion time, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with others who have experienced a recent loss, learn about their experiences and share your own. We have a few different sessions throughout the year. Contact Lanette Hatfield (email) for more information.
